Everything to watch out for the rest of the 2024 F1 season

Image
After three long weeks of sitting at home, doing nothing but watch football or attending Taylor Swift's concerts if your name is George Russell, it is time for 20 of the world's premier drivers to get back into the groove of taming the wild, 300kph raucous beasts while travelling around the world once more. With that, it marks the dawn of a new chapter in the Formula 1 book which means many storylines are set to be written, but some are still incomplete. Here are a few stories to look out for in the second half of the Formula 1 season: Can Norris mount a title challenge? Lando Norris has been on the rise in recent years, with many touting him to be a future world champion. This season saw Lando Norris finally being given the competitive machinery that he so dearly desired all this time. Consistently challenging Max Verstappen for pole position or victories, many think that there may be a battle between the two brewing for the World Drivers' Championship trophy, which Versta...

How the Austrian GP exposed Lando Norris' mentality

Image
Max Verstappen and Lando Norris are good friends off the track. The duo have shown massive respect for each other and Max has stated that Lando is his closest friend on the grid and that if he isn't the one winning, he wants it to be Lando.   However, the friendship looks to be challenged in 2024 as it looks like the McLarens have managed to get their cars closer to the Red Bulls and challenge them for regular victories.  A statement win in the Miami Grand Prix cemented McLaren as one of the top contenders on the grid and hinted at the possibility of challenging the juggernauts of Red Bull and Verstappen to end their reign at the top of the F1 food chain.   The challenge would be constant throughout the year, with  Norris being able to threaten Verstappen for the win in races such as Imola and Spain, though the threat would not be converted to a place on the top step of the podium.  Lando Norris has made a reputation for himself to be somebody who cracks ...

Where Yuki Tsunoda must go for 2025 onwards

Image
Well in his fourth year of Formula 1, Yuki Tsunoda is undoubtedly having his best season to date.   Consistently finishing in the points and being the best driver in the field not from Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes or Aston Martin. Which is no small feat considering the gap between those five teams as compared to the bottom five.   Constantly outclassing veteran team-mate Daniel Ricciardo, who has fallen out of favour with some former world champions on TV, and finishing in good points positions, Yuki looked to finally earn a promotion to the Red Bull senior team alongside Max Verstappen.   Unfortunately, that would not come to fruition for the Japanese as the senior team opted to re-sign Sergio Perez for a further two years until 2026. A decision that came to a surprise to many F1 fans due to the Mexican's underwhelming results in the past two years.    Nevertheless, it leaves Yuki with some options to steer his future towards as he may not...

When Giant Moths invaded Singapore

Image
If you're old like me, you were probably strolling in Singapore one day in 2014 and every corner you looked, you would see a big dark figure that had two black triangular wings protruding from its body, being made visible by the single white line dashing across the middle of those wings.   When I was a kid, I was absolutely petrified of these things. Whether or not I was in school, going out with my parents or just being at home, these giant moths would just be resting on a wall or the ceiling, sometimes in packs. Even looking at the images make my heart skip a beat.   Measuring at about 16cm, that is gigantic for an 8 year-old so naturally, I was petrified to even look any dark areas as these mostly harmless creatures were nocturnal so they would likely be in a dark area.    But why? Why did these moths just start swarming South-east Asia all of a sudden during 2014?   No one really knows. Many theories have emerged, such as there being a larger amount o...

The Tortured Poets Department review - Taylor’s step in the wrong direction

Image
Taylor Swift has undeniably had the world on chokehold for the last year, with governments fighting to get her to perform in their countries as her large following is enough to affect their whole economies and her “Taylor’s Versions” taking advantage off her fans’ nostalgia.   The latest product of the fame is The Tortured Poets Department which was marketed as an introspective album given its serious name accompanied by the black and white album covers, this looked to be a potential deep dive into Taylor’s more personal side as she looks to recover from a tumultuous time love-wise with two relationships ending.   A lot of the album’s marketing had an emphasis on the lyrical side of the album, with Taylor referring to the lyrics as “poetry”, and the aesthetic of having a typewriters to truly sell the words that she would use on this album.   Many of her dedicated fans would of course hype this up, with some going as far as to say that you may need a dictionar...

Red Bull's 2025 driver candidates ranked from most to least likely

Image
The Red Bull second seat has been one of the main challenges in Formula 1 recently. After Daniel Ricciardo's departure in 2018, drivers ranging from good talent to good experience have attempted to fill in the big (and champagne filled) shoes left behind by the Aussie.    As the style of Newey's cars is to build the fastest car possible that the drivers have to try and master, which is what Max Verstappen has done well, the same cannot be said for the other side of the garage.   With the likes of Gasly and Albon getting dropped due to subpar results and Sergio Perez is currently filling in the seat, but with a difficult year in 2023 and looking to be far off the pace of Verstappen with no signs of closing in, will he be shown the door after 2024 for another driver?   Here are the candidates for the seat, inclusive of Perez, ranked from most likely to an outside chance: Sergio Perez - Very Likely   Despite a difficult 2023, Checo has actually had a ...

The Bruno Mars concert experience

Image
In 2024, Singapore has attracted many big music acts from across the globe to travel to our tiny little red dot as a stop on their tours and perform in the renowned Singapore National Stadium. Artists such as Coldplay, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran have performed in Singapore in 2024 and the most recent artist to perform is the one and only Bruno Mars.   Bruno Mars is an American singer-songwriter who has Puerto Rican and Philippines descent. With his music being heavily inspired by the likes of Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson, which is evident in the way he moves and presents himself on stage, he is one of the biggest artists of the 21st century.   Charting on the Billboard Hot 100 with 32 songs, he sprouted into the music scene after stealing the spotlight with his unique vocals on singles such as B.O.B.'s "Nothin' On You" and Travis McCoy's "Billionaire" which are songs that are still revered by fans of his to this day.   He further established hims...
